The Story Behind PurpleBee Home: From Etsy to Our Own Little Shop

Hello, and welcome! If you've been with me for a while, you might remember me from Etsy.

That's where PurpleBee Home actually began: a little collection of craft kits, digital prints and a few handmade and preloved jewellery pieces, listed one by one, packed on the kitchen table and posted out to homes all over the UK.

Selling on Etsy taught me so much. It taught me what people really want in a gift: something thoughtful, a little unexpected and never over the top. It taught me which craft kits people kept coming back for again and again (the Highland Cow, if you're wondering. Nobody is immune).

And it taught me there's a real appetite out there for gifts that feel personal rather than mass produced.

Why I Made the Move

After a lovely run on Etsy, it felt like the right time to bring everything under one roof: my very own little shop, built entirely around what PurpleBee Home stands for, rather than squeezed into someone else's marketplace format.

That means you'll find:

  1. Unique gifts and gift sets for the moments worth marking properly.

  2. Craft kits for a slow, creative afternoon. Paint your own kits that don't need any experience at all.

  3. Digital prints for nurseries, home offices and everywhere in between.

  4. Jewellery, a lovely mix of handmade pieces and carefully chosen preloved and secondhand finds, made from recycled materials wherever I can.

That last bit matters a lot to me. I'm not just adding "preloved" because it sounds nice. It's genuinely part of how I think about jewellery. Beautiful pieces don't need to be brand new to be worth giving, and a little bit of history can make a gift feel even more special.

What Hasn't Changed

Even with my own site now, I'm still very much a small, independent business. No warehouse, no big team, just thoughtful gifts packed with care and posted UK wide, with free postage on everything.

I'm still figuring things out as I go along (that's small business life for you!), but I'm so excited to finally have a home that feels properly mine. One place for everything I make and find, instead of spread across different platforms.

What's Next

I'll be popping up here on the blog regularly from now on: care guides for your jewellery and craft kits, gift ideas as the seasons change, and a proper behind the scenes look at what running a small UK gift shop is really like.

Thank you so much for following along, whether you've been here since my very first Etsy listing or you've just found me today. There's a lot more to come, and I couldn't be happier to share it with you.
